White Ostuni Tour
At first you will have the impression of being in Greece, but we are still within the Italian borders: we are talking about “the white Lady”, the village of Ostuni. This city was built on three hills and it is famous for the beautiful effect of the almost blinding sunlight reflecting on the walls of its whitewashed houses. We will walk through the narrow streets and visit the beautiful examples of Apulian Romanesque style, such as the impressive Cathedral. We can also enjoy a stunning view on the Adriatic coast from which Ostuni is separated by an ocean of centuries-old olive trees.
Before we start our walking tour within the old city centre, we stop along the ancient walls to make a panoramic photo. We will walk then along the defence walls that lead to the old city centre. We will reach “Piazza della Libertà “ where we find the town hall building and the column dedicated to Sant' Oronzo. Afterwards we will head on to the medieval part of the city through narrow and whitewashed side-streets and then we will reach and visit the Cathedral of Assunta built in Romanesque-gothic style (1435). At the end of our visit you will have free time for shopping.
