Board your coach for a sightseeing drive along the streets of Varna to view City Hall, the railway station and the Sea Garden. You will make a short stop at the Cathedral of the Assumption and visit Varna's golden-domed, most-cherished church.

A scenic drive inland brings you to Madara, a village of ancient history and warm and hospitable people. Near the village is one of Bulgaria's most fascinating UNESCO sites, and you will take a leisurely walk along the wooded alleys, winding up to the majestic Madara rocks where you will discover the 8th-century relief the Madara Horseman, revealing historical data about the military and political development of early Bulgaria.

Re-board your coach for the drive to the village, where a local couple are expecting you at their private home. The people of Madara enjoy visitors and they will earnestly insist that you sample their local delicacies and brandies. View a demonstration of how the famous Bulgarian banitsa (cheese and egg pie) is prepared. Should you choose to participate in the preparation of the meal, you will be most welcome to do so! After a warm farewell from your hosts, you will return to Varna.
