Tinos tour
The island is known today as the island of Megalochari, Tinos overflows with believers on the 15th of August every year, who arrive in their promises of thanks by giving offers to the Panagia or Virgin Mary. You will have the chance of visit the dominant marble Church of Panagia Evangelista which was built in 1823 on the site where the icon of the Virgin Mary has been found. This icon is considered to be a work of the evangelist Lucas. In the additional buildings of the church, you could visit the art gallery and a sculptured gallery of Tinian artisits with very significant works and a mausoleum of the victims of the ship Elli, sunk by the Italians in 1940. Following the Church of Panagia you will visit the Monastery of Kechrovounie, and the village of Volax. Afterwards you will then return back to the ship.
