Kythera-Tour to Chora, Mylopotamos, Livadi

Departure from Kapsali( port of the island) to Chora. The capital of Kythera is found at the very south of the island. Chora was one of the first settlements in Greece to be decreed as “historical, traditional and protected”. From wherever you stand in the picturesque village of Chora you catch a glimpse of the KASTRO (castle). This formidable fortress is visited by thousands every year. A cobblestone pathway will take you from Chora to the gates of the Kastro. With views as far as Crete and Antikythera, you will spend two hours exploring the Venetian laneways of Chora dotted with traditional Kytherian shops.

Departure for Mylopotamos after two hours.

After half an hour arrive in Mylopotamos.

When you first enter Mylopotamos you will come to a town square shaded by huge old Poplar trees. The Café found in the village square is one of the island’s oldest kafenions. Here you will enjoy a buffet lunch with traditional Greek food. A ten minute-walk will take you to the “Fonissa” waterfall.

Departure for Kato Livadi after two hours.

After half an hour arrive in Kato Livadi. Here you will visit:

1.The “Katouni Bridge”, the biggest stone bridge in the Balkans.

2.The Byzantine museum, with a collection of Byzantine and Post Byzantine Art on Kythera.

3.Ceremics Gallery with 100 years of history. This family workshop produces a range of pots delicately hand-painted with traditional patterns.

After 1 ½ hours departure for Kapsali via Kalamos. This is one of the most picturesque driving routes of Kythera. Here you get your perfect photographic opportunity! Capture the beauty of Chora and Kapsali forever.
