We start this excursion with Asklepion, the most visited archaeological site on the island.
Constructed in the 4th century bc it served two purposed; a temple consecrated to Asklepios the God of health as well as a health & healing resort. This is where Hippocrates, the father of medicine, practiced & developed many of the healing methods that are still used today.
Next stop will be the Odeon, the old Roman theatre that was unearthed in 1929.
On the opposite side of the Odeon is the western excavation site, said to be an ancient ‘gymnasium’, there guests can visit the Nymphaeum and Xysto ruins from the Hellenistic and Roman eras.
We take a walk through the old town & end up in the main square we will have a guided visit of the museum; full of many interesting historical artifacts from the different periods of Kos rich history.
We’ll make one last stop to the Planetree (greek: "Platanos") of Hippocrates near the ancient Castle Fortress on the harbour. It is said that 2500yrs ago Hippocrates, the father of medicine taught his students under that very tree.
