Tinos tour

The island is known today as the island of Megalochari, Tinos overflows with believers on the 15^th of August every year, who arrive in their promises of thanks by giving offers to the Panagia or Virgin Mary. You will have the chance of visit the dominant marble Church of Panagia Evangelista which was built in 1823 on the site where the icon of the Virgin Mary has been found. This icon is considered to be a work of the evangelist Lucas. In the additional buildings of the church, you could visit the art gallery and a sculptured gallery of Tinian artisits with very significant works and a mausoleum of the victims of the ship Elli, sunk by the Italians in 1940. Following the Church of Panagia you will visit the Monastery of Kechrovounie where you will see more religious articles and the village of Volax. Continuing your tour you will the dovecotes of Tarambados, the village of Pirgos and a choice of either the village of Loutra, with its folklore museum, or a stop at the mountain, Exbourgo, with a 20-minute climb to the top (your choice, depending on the client’s interests). This tour will also include a lunch stop (with possibility of swimming, if from June until September).
