Taormina and Mount Etna Tour

Leave the pier by coach and start a brief  sightseeing of Messina passing through Piazza Duomo (The Cathedral with its astronomic clock) - Corso Cavour - Via Boccetta.

Proceed to Taormina driving along the Autostrada.-

Arrive at Taormina.- The town is perched on a terrace overlooking the sea and has a delightful medieval character, with lots of interesting shops.- Tour members will get off the vehicles at Terminal Bus for starting the walking tour .- The visiting from outside Palazzo Corvaia, a 15th Century building, adorned with the classic double windows.- Afterwards, you will be guided  to the impressive Theatre built by Greek in the 3rd Century BC.- Fantastic for its wideness and the particular acoustic effects it is still now used in Summer for open performances.-

After the visit you will have some free time to stroll at the "Corso Umberto".- Just off this pedestrian street there many small lanes and "Viuzze", where passengers are able to shop for local handcrafts.-

Leave Taormina to Mt. Etna through the scenic road which winds around the slopes of the mountain, passing the town of Giarre and the villages of Santa Venerina and Zafferana.-

Arrive at Mt. Etna-Cratere Silvestri, at about 1950 metres above sea level.-Mt. Etna is the Europe's largest active volcano; the slopes soar up to over 3296 meters and the flanks of the mountain are covered with scores of cones and craters.- From there the passengers will be able to gaze out across the Catania Gulf and to view the woods, orchards and vineyards from the vantage point.- But of course the major attraction is the crater and the remnants of the awe inspiring streams of lava.-
