Syros Island Tour

At your arrival in the port of Syros  (Hermoupolis) our modern, airconditioning  coaches will be waiting to collect you and take you first to visit the church of  KIMISI  THEOTOKOU  ( Assumption), to see   the famous  original icon of  Dominicos Theotokopoulos (El Greco), the famous painter of the 15^th and 16^th century.

Then, we get back to the coach and make the round of the southern villages of Syros, with the beautiful beaches of Vari, Megas Yialos, Possidonia or Dellagratsia and Finikas where we will make a short stop. Then we carry on our drive and visit  the  western  villages  Galissas, Danakos and Kini, where we will visit the Historical  Greek Orthodox   Monastery of Santa Barbara. Then we get back to the coach for our way back to Hermoupolis with optional stop to visit a traditional factory  of  “LOUKOUMI”  nougat delights.

Getting back to the port of Syros, we will carry on our excursion by foot to the historical center of Hermoupolis and we will visit the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of Metamorphosis, the famous first High School of modern Greece where Eleftherios Venizelos studied and now part of the Aegean University. Then we visit the impressing Orthodox Cathedral of Saint Nicolas, the area “Vaporia” with neoclassical mansions – also called “little Venice” – and the monument of the unknown soldier.

On the way back to the center,   optional visit to “Apollon” Theatre (the first opera house of Greece). Then we visit the museum of Cycladic Art, and the Archaeological Museum. The excursion is completed at the unique Town Hall of Hermoupolis at the central marble square Miaoulis, and passing the atmospheric shopping center we are back to the port.
