Secrets of Pomorie
Board a coach pier-side and begin the 20-minute drive south to Pomorie, a laid-back seaside town noted for its traditional buildings. En route, pass salt pans and travel through vast vineyards.
The region between Pomorie, Burgas and Aytos is well known as one of Bulgaria's best wine-growing and wine-producing areas, facilitated by its proximity of the sea and the eastern slopes of the Balkan Mountains, which protect against the cold northern winds.
You are invited to visit the only in Bulgaria museum for producing of salt by evaporation of sea water under the sun rays. After becoming acquainted with the authentic way of salt-producing in Anchialo (the old name of Pomorie), you can bury your feet in the salt rye to feel how all worries and health problems will disappear.
Visit St. George Monastery, where you are invited to listen to the magic Orthodox choir performance recital.
Later come to a Thracian beehive tomb from II – IV century, a remarkable monument left on Bulgarian lands, used to be an original mausoleum of a rich Anhialo family. Soon after your visit to the tomb, young girl dressed in national costume shall be offering you fresh fruits from the garden you have passed by.
