We invite you to step back in time with us at the incredible volcanic island of Milos, one of the most beautiful places in the Greek Archipelago.

Follow your guide to a really special shore excursion starting from Papafragas, a cluster of deep-sea inlets and sea caves. It is positioned at the base of a pristine ravine that was originally created by repeated volcanic eruptions. Stroll around at this picturesque location, where you can look down into clear turquoise waters and the caves at the bottom of the ravine. Milos played a crucial part in the pre-history of the Aegean and specifically Phylakopi, a settlement dating back to 9000 to 4000 BC. Focus on your guide’s descriptions of this prehistoric position while visiting the adjacent site of Papafragas overlooking the city’s western fortification wall. After a short drive from Phylakopi we will arrive at Sarakiniko, a striking coastal area defined by its smooth, white volcanic rock formations. This site exemplifies the effects of volcanic activity and erosion, creating a unique geological landscape. Take time to examine the textures and formations that tell the story of Milos’ volcanic history.

After that, take a drive to the northern coast towards picturesque Plaka and its traditional cobbled streets and alleys. Plaka is the capital (Chora) of Milos with white scenic stone houses, located at 250m above sea level. Wander around  the village to admire its traditional architecture and its panoramic view of the sea from Panagia Korfiatissa, a beautiful 19th-century church, and we’ll taste some homemade sweets at the village’s famous local pastry shop (optional). Last stop of this excursion is at the outskirts of Trypiti where the Catacombs are located. It is a sacred place for Early Christianity and  a Necropolis of an estimated 2500 souls.Near to Catacombs lay the Ancient Roman Theatre, included in Greece’s most beautiful ancient theatres. Seven seat rows are still intact from ancient times. While reconstruction works take place lately there, you can admire it panoramically and take some pictures from the above. After that, return to your bus and enjoy the route back to Milos port and your cruise ship.
