2 Days Tour to Meteora and Delphi
Day 1
Depart from Athens and pass through Thebes with a short stop to Levadia and Arachova, and then continue on up to Delphi. Delphi is one of the most visited archaeological sites in Greece and home of the well-respected oracle of the Ancient times. Marvel the Temple of Apollo, pass through Castalia Spring, whose waters said to be magical. Visit the Museum of Delphi (optional) with its precious findings, including the unique bronze Charioteer, a man-size bronze statue of excellent craft, and the Statue of Antinoos, a praise to classical beauty. After lunch the tour continues along the cities of Lamia (short stop), Trikala (located in the middle of Thessalian plain), and ends to Kalambaka ,a small town built on the slopes of the breathtaking rocks of Meteora. Overnight at Kalambaka.
Day 2
Morning departure to Meteora for a visit of two Byzantine Monasteries built on the top of rocky cliffs. Metéora ,which means “ in the heavens above” is one of the largest and most important group of monasteries. Six of the monasteries are built on natural sandstone rock pillars. Meteora is a UNESCO world heritage monument. Driving back ,you might visit an visit a factory of Byzantine icons (optional). Continue on to Thermopylae and make a stop for photos in the place where 300 Spartans sacrificed themselves fighting against a massive Persian army. The tour returns to Athens late in the afternoon.
